Last night I was shopping for souvenirs when a group of Japanese tourists entered the store. The men were all over 6 feet tall but with the typical slender Japanese stature. I found myself looking up to all of them.
However it was the women who blew me away. They were my own height or taller. But what stood out (and you may interpret that literally) was that they were extremely, shall we say, voluptuous? It took considerable will power on my part not to stare…and I’m not entirely sure that I was successful in that endeavor. Gone forever is my image of the typical Japanese woman as being shy, demure, petite…and flat-chested. And they really were not that exceptional either, given what I’ve observed on Kokusai Dori. I guess it’s true what they say about the effects of the American fast food diet on the development of oriental kids.
I’m still operating on Hawaiian time so I just got in from a walk to Family Mart at 05:30. It’s cool outside and breezy. Now if it only stays that way then everything will be fine. Gonna try to get to Onoyama Park today and check out the action. It’s a holiday so the Yui Rail might be packed again. I suppose I’ll just have to take my chances.
