Team i-O Member, Myron Akana, just came back from Okinawa recently and dropped off some cool omiyage items for me. Among them are these nifty Goya-man in a Bingata and Hanagasa pens and key chains.
This is the first time that I'm seeing Goya-man dressed in something other than his yellow hat and red cape. I think he looks awfully cute in the traditional dance attire.
I hear that Goya-man is all the rage, thanks to the Chura-san series which made it famous. I find it amusing that although the Goya-man character was a total flop in the drama, it is finding such popularity in real life.
Now who would have thought that a character fashioned after a bittermelon would be so suteki?
I have a new DotW up at Pop.i-O. This week's featured artist discography is Natsukawa Rimi. Enjoy!
Haisai and welcome to the new i-O Blog powered by MovableType! If you're having any trouble with the site, please email us at info@internet-okinawa.com. Nifee!
I posted a new article entitled "Backstage Pass" which gives you a glimpse of what goes on behind-the-scenes at a typical Okinawan performing arts show. Complete with photos!
Go to the Articles section to read the entry and to see a list of other articles that have been published.
A big Nifee goes out to Richie who has been hard at work on the i-O blog, banging out the kinks non-stop since yesterday.
Things are really coming together and I'm excited about all of the great things in store for i-O because of the wonderful people who are stepping forward to get involved in this project. Team i-O is growing -- and you'll see the site growing exponentially as well. So, stay tuned and check back frequently for updates!
I'm running ahead of schedule and the i-O Blog may go "live" by Wednesday or sooner. Yay!
Haisai everyone! Still working on the layout but everything's working fine -- so far. The revamped, MovableType-powered (sorry MT, I'll have an actual link to your site up soon), i-O weblog will be in total working order by Friday, May 2nd. Thanks for visiting!
Welcome to i-O v.2! I hope you like the new look and feel of the site. I am hoping that this will be a more user-friendly and aesthetically pleasing version for you!
I am still working on integrating all pages into the new format, but I have been able to convert most of them already. If you discover any glitches or problems, please drop us a line.
I want to thank Travis Morgan for designing Internet-Okinawa.com's new logo. His hardwork is greatly appreciated!
We have so much sitting on the backburner right now that I can't even begin to tell you about the new and exciting things that are just on the horizon for i-O! New content is on its way. All I need now is time! (I'm looking for more Team i-O members who can help me hack some HTML and scan some photos to help me publish some of this content!)
We have been seeing much growth in Team i-O and I just want to welcome everyone who has joined the group and whose efforts will all go toward making Internet-Okinawa one of the most dynamic resources on Okinawa on the web! We have so much to do and a long way to go, but we are definitely on our way! Everyone on our "staff" is a volunteer, giving freely of their time and energies to help put this site together. Nifee deebiru to all of you!
