Okinawa in Spring

Sakura

Myron Akana, i-O photographer, returned from his Spring trip to Okinawa. He captures the sakura (cherry blossoms) in full bloom and a serendipitous Juri Uma performance with a talented eye and trained lens. See all of the photos from his wonderful trip to Okinawa at internet-Okinawa’s Flickr photostream. Be sure to leave us a comment and let us know which ones are your favorites!

Goyaman

Goyaman Baby

Fans of the Churasan television drama will recognize this immediately. Goyaman (and the off-shoots like this one) was popularized by the series and can be found in Okinawa, but are difficult to find anywhere else — until now. You can find Goyaman keychains in the classic style, eisa, hanagasa, and baby characters at Utage Restaurant in City Square (1286 Kalani Street, Honolulu Hawaii, ph. 808-843-8109). Supplies are limited, so be sure to pick up yours and get your fix of great Okinawan food at the same time!

My favorites: Nabera Chanpuru with tuna, Rafute (shoyu pork)
