Yukie Nakama to Return as Kouhaku Emcee

NAKAMA Yukie’s popularity is at an all-time high so why not complete the year as NHK’s emcee for their 57th annual Kouhaku Uta-Gassen? This’ll be the 27 year-old’s second year as the Red Team’s (aka-gumi) hostess and maybe we’ll even see her perform her quirky made-for-CM-song “Koi no Download”. :P

Cocco to Make Her Kouhaku Debut

[Update: For whatever reason, she’ll not be performing at this year’s Kouhaku. :(]

Those of you who’ve been following my Okinawa pop culture blog(s) know that I’m a big fan of singer Cocco (29), right? Well, guess what? After 10 years in the biz, Cocco will be making her Kouhaku (Kouhaku Uta Gassen) debut! Nikkansports.com reports that NHK may make create an “Okinawan Showdown” skit between Cocco and J-Pop hipsters ORANGE RANGE.

Manami Higa to star in NHK’s 2007 morning drama serial ‘Dondo Hare’

She may not be a household name yet, but come April 2007, all of Japan and J-dorama fans across the globe will be talking about HIGA Manami (20). She’ll be starring in “Dondo Hare” (starts on April 2nd), part of NHK’s popular morning drama series (or asadora) which will also star singer MORI Masako (48)—making her comeback after retiring in 1985—as her mother.

Manami was born in Uruma City, Okinawa Prefecture, on June 14, 1986. The 168cm (5′5″) beauty was scouted in 2003 and made her debut as a model (she’s a JJ Model). In 2005, Manami made her film debut in “Niraikanai kara no Tegami” which was filmed in Okinawa’s Taketomi-jima.

ANA’s Okinawa Themed Desktop Wallpaper Calendar

ANA (All Nippon Airways) has launched their Okinawa campaign website (just in time for winter) called “Mattariina→Hoccoriina→OKINAWA/ANA” and features actor MOKOMICHI Hayami (”Densha Otoko”, “Rondo”). The special campaign site has a lot of things to look at so you may want to grab the wallpapers (the monthly calendar variety) first and check out the entertaining CMs (commercials) too.
