Here’s a list of artists with ties to Okinawa that can be found at the US iTMS (iTunes Music Store). Some artists—for whatever reason—are listed twice at the store. Apple, if you’re looking to hire someone that *cough* knows a bit about this stuff…
(Please note that clicking on any of these links will open your iTunes app. I’ll have a more detailed list in the future that’ll have the singles/albums available for each artist.)

I suggest giving a listen to Ryukyu Underground and Takuji a.k.a. Geetek if you’re short on time and do the other artists later. Both artists have interesting stuff on their albums. The Twelve Girls Band is also worth a listen too and comes highly recommended by a dude named Richie.
And if you were wondering: Yes, I actually do have a life.
Know of any that I missed? Email me: karakuipress[at]gmail[dot]com. Nifee!
Don’t forget to check out both of my iMixes (one / two) at the US iTMS too.
